I recently took on designing the logo and website for 31st Street Studios in Pittsburgh, a new movie studio located just outside of downtown in the Strip District. Pittsburgh’s becoming quite the hub for the movie industry, and 31st Street Studios is part of the new wave of filmmakers in town. Client: J. Armstead Brown Project: 82 Concepts developed a 6 sided album artwork with disc art. I had worked with Armstead Brown in the past and when he began telling me some of the ideas for this project I was thrilled. We took multiple photos in ID Labs (a recording studio in Pittsburgh, PA) of mixing boards, microphones, keyboards, and speakers. We then got to work to bring his ideas of a mixing board field, a microphone corn husk, and a sleek multi-page album that has received many positive reviews for the artwork and music alike. Client: Rhyme Calisthenics Project: 82 Concepts developed a handbill design for an event. Rhyme Calisthenics is a game show event like no other. This performance event gives MCs a chance to battle other contestants on stage by spinning a wheel much like the one on Wheel of Fortune, but instead of monetary amounts, there are random subjects on which they must create a freestyle rap on the spot in front of a live audience.
